My family loved Sundance!!!!  The great room windows going from the sides of the cottage to the front give a panoramic view of the ocean!! Sitting on the porch is just like being on the beach—minus the sand!  I can see why so many of the same family groups return year after year!!

Decor of beach and sea theme in pictures and furnishings give a wonderful vacation feeling. Views of ocean and sound are exquisite. Short walk to beach.Really enjoyed sitting outside at the ice cream parlorbehind the house. Private pool area great place for kids.Fabulous time because everything was so close–outlet mall, restaurants and a seafood market is within walking distance!!

This house is immaculate. It has all amenities, including 2 refrigerators. The attention to detail is amazing. The view from the top floor (living area & master bedroon/bath) from all windows is breathtaking! View of Roanoke Sound is from dining room windows - beach is on the other side of house - short walk to ocean. Bottom floor is a great kids/teens room with game table. Great way to keep upstairs for adult :-). Can’t wait to go back -perfect for 2 families.

We spent Thanksgiving week at Shelltown (2009) and had a wonderful Thanksgiving
dinner at the house.  The house is absolutely beautiful and the kitchen had
everything I needed to cook a big turkey dinner.  The two full size
refrigerators really came in handy.  Everyone had a great time.  The
recreation room is wonderful.  The kids loved the pool table
and foosball table.  We used the hot tub every day.  Very relaxing.  This is
the perfect house for a family vacation.  Close to everything…beach,
shopping (Tanger Outlet across the street), dining, mini golf.   Thanks for
a wonderful Thanksgiving vacation!

 My family thoroughly enjoyed our week at Cape Coral.The owners truly thought of everything to make staying there a great experience….from the well-equippedgameroom, comfortable bedrooms and bathrooms to the spacious great room, dining area and kitchen. Thedecor is lovely and fun with “Margaritaville flair”. We enjoyed rocking on the porches in the morning, the nearby beach and happy hour at the pool. The elevator made it very easy to move luggage and tired familymembers. I highly recommend this home for a large family!”

I want to thank you for all of your help with organizingour family vacation at “Cape Cod.”  We had a blast!  The house was absolutely loved the house…the location, thepool, thekitchen, the great room, the rec room, the bedrooms, the  elevator…everything.  It was our family’s first trip to the OBX and we loved it.  We went to the beach every morning for kayaking, surfing, playing inthe waves, boogie-boarding, building sand sculptures, etc, and at night swimming in the pool, barbecuing, fishing, hunting for crabs, watching fireworks, playing games, and just hanging out and relaxing.  The onlycomplaint was when we had to keep the kids from crying when we left (they didn’t want to leave).  We are already trying to figure out when we can all make the trip again.

Your house was really wonderful!  In addition to the everything listed above, we really appreciated all of the additional creature comforts that we would not haveinitially considered:
 - 2 washers & dryers (we needed this more than we could have imagined)
 - 2 Refrigerators (both were full the entire trip)
 - 2 dishwashers (these 2 made the kitchen much more manageable)
 - Outside shower (kept the sand from the pool and the rest of the house)
 - Sitting area at the ocean-side window (ahhh, nice place to relax while the kids were napping)
 - Big kitchen table (we all could eat dinner at the same time!)
 - Excellent great-room (the kids loved the little overlook room)
 - Proximity to the supermarket (we went there every day)
 - Proximity to the beach (far enough away so the little kids wouldn’t wander by themselves, close enough to carry everything we needed)  Your house was absolutely perfect!

My husband and I stayed at  WeGe.  Wow—what a greatway to visit the Outer Banks and get an idea of what the area was like in previous years.  Your place is so quaintand special.  We loved rolling out of bed and being on the beach in less than a minute.  It was our first trip to the area and will return!!

Hello Pat, We recently returned from San Francisco, attending our daughter’s  wedding, where the subject of our rental of Cape May last September (2008) came up again as one of the most  rewarding trips we’ve ever taken, primarily because this house was such a wonderful place to find ourselves in. Our family reunion there was flawless –the appointments in the house, the proximity to the beach, the rec  roomon the lower level (one rainy day) and the general ease of renting from you all combined to deliver a truly marvelous week.  I was thinking, as I often have, that I had meant to send a personal note along.   Thank you for all your considerations  - we surely enjoyed them!

Most people visiting the Outer Banks of North Carolina want to visit at least one of the lighthouses. And we have lighthouses! The following is a driving tour from north to south along coastal North Carolina. Of the existing towers, you have a choice of seven lighthouses to visit, and you can see the ruins of an eighth. These light stations are so interesting that days can be spent in the surrounding area of each one, but you can adjust the length of your stay according to the amount of time you have, whether it is to make a quick stop or to linger. Visit a lighthouse soon! North Carolina has gained two “new” lighthouses. A reproduction of the Roanoke River Lighthouse can be visited on the lovely waterfront in Plymouth. Another reconstruction is located on the beautiful Manteo waterfront. Both were built according to the original plans of these “sound” lights that once dotted more than two dozen places all through the state’s sounds and rivers and are reminders of our close connection to the sea.

The Outer Banks are a major tourist destination, and are known for temperate weather and wide expanses of wide open beachfront.

The Wright Brothers first flight in a powered, heavier-than-air vehicle took place on the Outer Banks on December 17, 1903, at Kill Devil Hills, near the sea-front town of Kitty Hawk. The Wright Brothers National Monument commemorates the historic flights, and First Flight Airport is a small, general-aviation airfield located there.

An English colony—where the first person of English descent, Virginia Dare, was born on American soil vanished without a trace from Roanoke Island in 1587. The treacherous seas off the Outer Banks and the large number of shipwrecks that have occurred there have given these seas the nickname Graveyard of the Atlantic. The Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum is located in Hatteras Village near the United States Coast Guard facility and Hatteras ferry.

You’ll be happy you did, for at least five good reasons:

(1) Off-season travel is almost always cheaper. You can save 50% and more, for example, on hotels alone, by booking your trip to Hawaii in October or In March, when most people are trekking over there in the dead of winter and during summer and spring vacations.

(2) You’ll miss the crowds. Hey, you may love people and adore having lots of company, but believe me, crowds are no fun if they mean you have to shuffle along in tedium waiting for your chance to get on a chair lift at a ski resort. The more you ski, the more fun you have and the better you get. Standing in lines has absolutely no advantage, so why not book that trip to Lake Tahoe, as I’ve been doing the past few years in late March or early April, when there’s no waiting, whatsoever?

(3) You’ll deal with friendlier locals. Resort personnel are much more mellow after the crowds have waddled back home. They’ll tend to be more patient with you, and this will pay off in better suggestions for great local haunts and hangouts and nifty side trips that they’ll have the time to tell you about.

(4) You’ll get better service, and this is a mathematical fact. A few weeks into the off-season most resorts don’t slash their staffs, so there are more servers serving you! If you like being pampered, this is the time for it!

(5) You’ll save so much dough that you can afford two off-season jaunts for the price of one prime timer. So, that means skiing and surfing, in the same calendar year.

Typically, what constitutes the off-season is not pegged to the weather but more to the calendar. For instance, when Spring Break finishes early, say in the beginning of March, this means many Florida venues downshift to bargain rates.

The skies and waters are still warm and blue, but your money goes a lot further. And the snow doesn’t always disappear from the Sierras in February.

So, do what you can to seize the off-season as soon as it is announced, and you’ll have better and cheaper vacations!
